2nd UNF CI students China Summer Camp concluded

On June 23, 18 US high school students participating in the second Summer Camp of the Confucius Institute at the University of North Florida concluded their visit to China at Shaanxi Normal University.
They were from six high schools from Florida, USA, led by Prof. Wang Wen, the Chinese director of UNF CI.
Meeting and welcoming the students, International Programs Office vice director Zhang Lingyun briefed them about the university and encouraged them to learn more about Chinese culture through this visit. Prof. Wang informed them of the development of the university’s international exchange and cooperation and study in SNNU programs, inviting them to study at SNNU in the future.

During the visit, the students attended various Chinese language and culture courses organized by the university, including Chinese history and culture lectures, Chinese songs, paper-cutting, Taiji, calligraphy and seal carving; and visited SNNU Museum, Shaanxi History Museum, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses Museum and Xi’an City Wall.
They were paired with SNNU students as their Chinese language and culture partners, who became friends with them.

After receiving certificates of completion, the students thanked the university for the unforgettable experience. Joseph Smith said he would apply to study at SNNU after graduating from high school. Hannah Nierenhausen said this China trip was a challenge as well as growth for her, which helped her compare Chinese and US cultures and made Chinese friends.
