Tang West Market donates 20 million yuan to SNNU’s microbial institute

On October 22, Tang West Market Cultural Industry Investment Group Co., Ltd. Donated RMB 20 million yuan to help construct Shaanxi Normal Universitys Institute of Microbial Engineering and Technology, at a ceremony held at the Administrative Building on Changan campus.

Mr. Lv Jianzhong, TWM board chairman and chairman of Silk Road International Chamber of Commerce, TWM managing director Mr. Yu Baoan, Mr. Li Zhonghang, SRICC secretary-general and TWM CEO, TWM vice executive president Wang Shaobin, vice presidents Wang Yong and Li Wei, Shengxin Environmental Protection Company managing director Yang Baogang and general manager Yang Sai, CPC SNNU Committee secretary Cheng Guangxu, vice president Yang Zupei, Administrative Office vice director Xin Shengping, Educational Foundation secretary-general Liu Jianbin, Institute of Microbial Engineering and Technology dean Chen Wuling, Prof. Li Xu, School of Food Engineering and Nutritional Science dean Yang Xingbin, School of History and Civilization dean He Zhilong, School of Materials Science and Engineering dean Chen Xinbing, Department of Science and Technology vice director Zhang Weibing, and M.O.E. Engineering Center for Historical Heritage Conservation vice director Chao Xiaolian attended the ceremony.

Cheng Guangxu briefed the guests about SNNUs history, characteristics, disciplines, human resources and research, with emphasis on cultural communications, Chinese history, relics conservation, food processing, chemistry and chemical engineering, non-metallic materials. He welcomed TWM management to the ceremony and thanked their support to the university.

Mr. Li Zhonghang briefed the hosts about TWM and SRICC, and said supporting  SNNUs Institute of Microbial Engineering and Technology not only served TWMs needs, but also echoed Chinas call on pollution control. He said he was confident this cooperation would achieve fruitful results.

Prof. Chen Wuling briefed about the background of the cooperation and basic information about the institute. He said, with the support from the university and TWM, the institute had worked with TWM in microbial treatment of municipal sewage, and would apply new microorganism technologies in areas such as modern agriculture and saline-alkali soil.

Yang Zupei and Yu Baoan signed the Agreement of Donation on behalf of the two parties.

After the signing, He Zhilong gave a briefing about SHCs characteristics and strength, faculty and expertise, and hoped to work with TWM in cultural inheritance and conservation, and museum professionals training and management. Yang Xingbin talked about the universitys characteristics and strength in research and its international and outreach programs. Chen Xinbing talked about SMSEs relics conservation and new energy materials.

      Lv JIanzhong said TWM would join hand with SNNU to build IMET into a national level key lab, solving problems that enterprises and the national cared about. He continued that TWMs cooperation with SNNU would expand from microorganism engineering and technology to private museum operation, historical tourist town construction, international student exchange, artwork trading platform, quality and efficiency enhancement of tourism resources, and smart port construction, aiming at more extensive and deeper cooperation and mutual development.

Before the signing ceremony, TWM guests visited IMETs lab and pilot plant and M.O.E. Engineering Center for Historical Heritage Conservation.

Prof. Chens state-of-the-art innovative microorganism engineering technology, which has 19 approved and pending patents, is widely applicable to areas of energy, hazard-free treatment and resource reuse of solid waste and organic waste, modern agricultural production, saline-alkali soil, desertification, biological treatment of contaminated soil, food and medicine.
