OBOR Institute for Advanced Studies in Education established



On Oct 21, Shaanxi Normal Universitys The Belt and Road Institute for Advanced Studies in Education was established, during the 3-day One Belt and One Road Sino-Russian Forum on Teacher Education held in the university in Xian, China.

More than 30 scholars from about 20 Chinese and Russian universities or research institutes, including National Moscow University, Russian Academy of Education, National Russian Normal University, Beijing Normal University, South China Normal University, Northwest Normal University, Shanghai Normal University, Guangxi Normal University, Hainan Normal University, Shenyang Normal University, Ningxia University, attended the ceremony.

    SNNU Assistant President Li Sen, Department of Social Sciences director Ma Ruiying, School of Education dean Chen Peng, CPC SOE Sub-Committee secretary Jing Feng, and SOE vice dean Wu Hewen joined the scholars at the event.

Chen Peng briefed about the Institute, saying it aimed to promote educational academic exchange and cooperation between universities in China and in countries along the New Silk Road Economic Belt and Maritime Silk Road, explore new research areas and new disciplinary growth on the basis of traditional advantageous discipline of education, expedite the internationalization and facilitate the development of education discipline, and assist the university in its drive to build a comprehensive research university featuring teacher education, so as to better serve Chinas educational policies and OBOR Initiative.

Li Sen congratulated on the the Institutes establishment, hoping it would develop deeper cooperative relationship with higher institutions in Russia and other OBOR countries and conduct sound and effective work in research and talent cultivation.

First vice president Kartava Datyanana of National Moscow University, president Lazarenko Irina Rudolfovna of Altai State University, Li Sen and Chen Peng unveiled the plaque of the Institute.

In the OBOR Forum on Education after the establishment ceremony, scholars discussed topics about the current situation and development trend of educational research in OBOR countries and proposed advice and suggestions to the Institute.

The Institute, adhering to the concept of Problem-oriented, Disciplinary Integration and Striving for Excellence, is an academic organization established under SNNUs OBOR Teacher Education Alliance, aiming to become a high-level platform for OBOR countries in research in education, internationalized school-running and talent cultivation, and service in regional education and social development.
