Du Wenyu elected chairman of Tang Dynasty Institute of China



Prof. Du Wenyu of Shaanxi Normal Universitys School of History and Civilization was elected the chairman of The Tang Dynasty Institute of China at the organizations thirteenth annual conference, held in Hang Zhou on November 17 and 18.

This is the first time that an SNNU scholar was elected chairman of the institute. Apart from Prof. Du Wenyu, SNNUs Prof. Xue Pingshuan was elected on of the eight vice chairmen, and Prof. Bai Genxing the secretary general.

The late renowned SNNU historian Shi Nianhai was vice chairman on the first to third session of the institute, and was elected honorary chairman. Several other SNNU scholars were elected vice chairman and secretary general.

The conference, sponsored by The Tang Dynasty Institute of China and organized by Zhejiang University, was also an international conference on the theme of China in the Tang Dynasty and the World.

The Institute, established in 1980 at SNNU and one of the first national academic societies in P. R. China, is one of the largest ones with more than 1300 members from universities, archeologist institutions, museums, research institutes, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and provincial academy of social sciences across China.
