Fourth Boxue Geography Scholarship awarded

On December 27, five students of Shaanxi Normal Universitys School of Geographic Science and Tourism were awarded the fourth Boxue Geography Scholarship, at a ceremony held in the Chongyu Building on Yanta campus.

The recipients of scholarship are Wang Weiyan, Qiao Qiaomeng, Weng Guangya, Shou Yin and Liu Feng, who are Geographic Science majors.

SGST CPC Committee secretary Li Jindong announced the schools decision and the students names.

Shou Yin, a class 2020 student in the Excellent Teacher Experimental Program, spoke on behalf of the awarded students. She said her goal was not only to become an excellent geography teacher, but also one equipped with advanced educational theories, solid teaching skills and strong research ability, vowing to proceed with the honor and encouragement.

SNNU vice president and SGST dean Dong Zhibao thanked the donations from academician Fu Bojie and other alumni. He hoped the students awarded and other teachers and students present would learn from them, set high goals, work hard, move forward steadily, and strive to contribute to the development of geography and the Chinese nation.

Academician Fu Boxie said more alumni had donated to enrich the scholarship and it would include students of Geo-information next year. He hoped the scholarship would help deepen peoples understanding of geography, facilitate SGSTs transition in teaching and research, and train more researchers and practitioners.

He gave a report on the Geography and Geographers in the New Era after the ceremony.
