SNNUers win 13 awards in 12th Academic and Sci-tech Project Contest

On May 28, Shaanxi Normal University students won 13 awards at the 12th Xian Gaoxin Challenge Cup Contest for Shaanxi College Student Extracurricular Academic and Sci-tech Project, as the event concluded at Northwest Polytechnical University.

SNNUers won three Grand Prize Awards, which is a new record high, six First Prize Awards, one Second Prize Awards, and three Third Prize Awards, and the university was awarded the Champion Cup again after a previous one four years ago.

Among the awarded projects, the university won awards for ten investigation reports and academic papers in the category of philosophy and social sciences, topping the participating universities and colleges in the province.

These projects will enter into the 16th Challenge Cup National Contest to be held in Beijing in October.

The opening ceremony, final competition and closing ceremony of the contest were held between from May 18 to 28, at NPUs Changan campus and Youyi campus.

CYL Shaanxi Committee secretary Duan Xiaolong and vice secretary Lu Zhen visited the exhibits of projects and talked with the students.

At the closing ceremony, CPC SNNU Committee vice secretary Wang Yongan took over the Challenge Cup flag from this years host, announcing SNNUs hosting of the 13th contest in 2021.

Since June 2018, more than 2700 SNNU students, under the guidance of about 500 teachers, submitted 492 projects to the university contest. Out of them, 18 projects were chosen by the jury to participate in the provincial contest.

The contest was co-sponsored by Shaanxi Provincial Committee of Communist Youth League, the Educational Work Committee of CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee, Shaanxi Provincial Association of Science and Technology, Shaanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Shaanxi Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, Shaanxi Provincial Federation of Student Unions, and Management Committee of Xian High-tech Industries Development Zone, and organized by Northwest Polytechnical University.

More than 10,000 projects ranging from mechanical control, information technology, mathematics, life science, energy and chemical engineering, education, philosophy, politics, economics, management and law, were submitted to the contest by over 50 universities and colleges in the province, and 277 made into the finals.
