SNNU inks memorandum with Uzbek Central Asia Institute



        On May 7, Shaanxi Normal University signed a memorandum of cooperation with Uzbek International Institute of Central Asia at an online round table meeting.

        SNNU president You Xuqun and Uzbek International Institute of Central Asia director Anwar Nasinov signed the memorandum on behalf of the two sides.

        SNNU president You Xuqun, vice president Ren Xiaowei, Office of International Exchange and Cooperation Zhang Lingyun, Central Asia Institute director Li Qi, UIICA director Anwar Nasinov attended the meeting.

        At the meeting, You Xuqun briefed about the profile and the international exchange of the university, especially its OBOR Camel Bell Initiative and 1311 Silk Road Education and Humanities Exchange Project. He said the university attached great importance to Sino-Uzbek cooperation and was glad to have broad prospect of cooperation with UIICA, and hoped the two sides would carry out substantial cooperation following this signing of memorandum, so as to promote mutual development.

        Anwar Nasinov briefed about UIICA, and said the meeting was of great significance at the time of the 100thanniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 30thanniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He also said that the cooperation with SNNU fitted the mutual interest and would facilitate the development of Sino-Uzbek bilateral relationship.

        Ren Xiaowei gave an account of SNNU’s cooperation with Uzbek in areas if academic exchange, faculty and student exchange, Uzbek students studying at SNNU, and sports and art exchange. He hoped the two sides could deepen their cooperation in specialized fields and promote humanistic and cultural exchange and cooperation.

        Li Qi briefed about the profile of SNNU Central Asia Institute and suggested intents of cooperation.

        They discussed issues regarding joint research in politics, ecology, water resources protection, historical and cultural heritage protection, joint publication of academic works, joint holding international conferences, etc. and reached preliminary consensus.

        Anwar Nasinov said that UIICA would like to join the three Silk Road Alliances initiated by SNNU, carrying out cooperation at higher and larger platforms.

        The meeting and the memorandum was a response to the phone talk between Chinese and Uzbek presidents on April 29.

        Uzbek International Institute of Central Asia was established at the direction of Uzbk presidentShavkat Mirziyoyev, which engages in research in the diplomacy, policies and social economic development of central Asian countries, and aims to promote the cooperation of central Asian countries in various fields and areas. The chairman of board ofUIICA is the Uzbek foreign minister.
