2021-07-14

Jinggu No. 1 Middle School in Yunnan province and Yanhe No. 3 Middle School in Guizhou province have achieved historical breakthroughs in the 2021 College Entrance Exams, known as Gaokao in Chinese, with the help of Shaanxi Normal University, as SNNU Office of Rural Revitalization and Counterpart Aid learned from the education bureaus of the two counties.

62 students of Jinggu Yi and Dai Autonomous County No. 1 Middle School obtained scores on or higher than the first-tier undergraduate universities, seven more than the number in 2020 and an increase for three consecutive years. Five students obtained a score higher than 600, and the highest score is 621 for liberal arts majors and 623 for science and technology majors.

67 students of Yanhe Tujia Autonomous County No. 3 Middle School obtained scores on or higher than the first-tier undergraduate universities, 42 more than 25 in 2020, an increase of 168%. Two students, the only two in the country, obtained a score higher than 600. 236 students obtained scores on or higher than the second-tier undergraduate universities, being 35.27% of all students and an increase of 5.21% over 2020.

Since 2017, responding to the Ministry of Education’s requirement of targeted aid in western Yunnan, SNNU has been pulling resources and putting efforts in consolidating the teaching staff of Jinggu County, and developed a Jinggu Model of educational aiding featuring “bidirectional exchange’ and “address both symptoms and root causes”.
