22 awards in 2016 national university student math modeling contest
On December 28, Shaanxi Normal University's fifty teams received 22 awards including national first award in the 2016 Higher Education Cup National University Student Mathematics Modeling Competition at an awarding ceremony held in Xi'an Jiaotong University in Xi'an.
They have won one national first award, seven national second awards, 13 Shaanxi provincial first awards and 22 Shaanxi provincial second awards, during the competition held from September 9 to 12.
More than 93000 students from 1367 universities from across China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Singapore and United States formed 31199 teams to participate in this year's event.
The winning students are eight schools of the university: 103 from School of Mathematics and Information Science, 12 from School of Physics and Information Technology, eight from International School, two from School of Computer Science, one each from School of Life Science, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, School of Food Engineering and Nutrition Science and School of Tourism and Environmental Studies.
SNNU was awarded the Best Organizer for another time.
150 SNNU students were recruited and received nearly two months of intensive training by coaches Fan Li and Chen Siyang of School of Mathematics and Information Science since July.
The competition, an annual event since 1992, is the largest scale basic science competition for university students in China.
