Profile of the Lecturer:

Professor Xiaodong Zhu received his BSc. in mathematics and MSc.in mathematical statistics from Wuhan University. He studied economics at the University of Chicago under the supervision of Professor Robert E. Lucas Jr., Nobel laurate in Economics, and received his PhD in economics in 1991.He is currently professor of economics at the University of Toronto, special-term professor at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, and co-director of the Economic Development Research Center at Wuhan University. Professor Zhu has published many papers in top economic journals on fiscal policy, growth and development, and Chinese economy. Professor Zhu’s research on the Chinese economy is wide-ranging, including trade, migration, structural change, misallocation, growth, aggregate fluctuations, monetary policy and financial sector reform.
