About the Lecture:

China is ageing rapidly. What are the challenges? What solutions are available? What are the preconditions for using these measures? This seminar will explore answers to these questions, and present an analysis of the current situation of old-age support based on the “China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study”, a longitudinal survey conducted by Peking University.

Profile of the Lecturer:

YAOHUI ZHAO is Yangtze River Scholar Professor of economics at Peking University. Her research interests include labor, health and demographic economics. She is associate director of the Institute of Social Science Surveys of Peking University and Principal Investigator of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), a nationally representative sample of Chinese residents 45 and older. She received B.A. and M.A. in economics from Peking University and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago.
