Academician Cao Yong appointed SNNU part-time professor



On October 15, academician Cao Yong of Chinese Academy of Sciences was appointed a part-time professor of Shaanxi Normal University and his Academician Workstation was unveiled at a ceremony held at Zhizhi Building on its Changan campus.

Changjiang Scholars Program Special Appointment professors Ma Yuguang and Huang Fei of South China University of Technology, who are also recipients of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and director and vice director of SCUT’s National Key Laboratory of Luminous Materials and Devices, SNNU vice president Li Lei, Department of Personnel director Hu Bo, Department of State-owned Assets Administration director and Department of Personnel vice director Fan Jing, Department of Science and Technology vice director Zhang Yan, School of Materials Science and Engineering dean Chen Xinbing, SMSE officials and teachers attended the ceremony.

After Hu Bo’s reading of SNNU Decision to Appoint Academician Cao Yong as a Part-time Professor, Li Lei awarded the certificate of appointment to Cao Yong and they unveiled the plaque of Academician Workstation.

Academician Cao thanked SNNU and SMSE for their invitation, and said that he believed the workstation would lead to substantial progress in the research in in Organic Optoelectronics and development of young researcher in the field.

The workstation’s cooperation professor Jiang Jiaxing thanked Academician Cao, Prof. Ma Yuguang, Prof. Huang Fei, SNNU, SMSE and other teachers for their support, and hoped for a major progress in research.

SMSE Prof. Liu Shengzhong and SMSE CPC Committee secretary Yang Qianshe also welcomed Academician Cao’s appointment and vowed to give full support and service.

VP Li Lei said Academician Cao’s joining would bring important academic resources and intellectual support to SNNU’s discipline of materials science and engineering, and hoped the workstation would make remarkable achievements in young talent development, scientific research, and commercialization of research findings.

Academician Cao is a renowned scientists in organic and polymer photoelectric functional materials and devices, who has made a series of seminal achievements in the field. He is also an academician of the Third World Academy of Sciences and a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

He first proposed the concept of Conter-Ion Induced Processibility, solving the problem of exclusiveness of high conductivity and processibility of conductive polymers, and developed for the first time the flexible large area plastic sheet-based LED. He has lead more than 30 research projects and published more than 300 SCI papers, with over 20,000 citations. He has won three second prizes of China National Natural Science Award, one first award for Higher Institution Scientific Research Findings by the Ministry of Education of China, one Guangdong Province Award for Outstanding Contribution in Science and Technology, and one first award for Scientific Advancement in Guangdong Province.
